It is not selfish to take care of yourself but essential. Your own needs must come first in your own life for no-one else will take such care of you. No-one else is going to put you first. They cannot do that because they are not living your life. Each person indeed each being, each creature, each plant, each animal, each insect should and must of necessity look after its own needs first and the needs of its fellows second. .... If you do not know how to take care of yourself you cannot truly take care of others either, for you will not know what their needs are. Understanding and taking care of your own needs will ultimately make you more sensitive and altruistic to the needs of others and not less.
